Term 2, 2023 Weeks 5-6
Principal's Message
Reconciliation Week, a significant event that promotes unity, understanding, and healing between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous Australians.
Reconciliation Week is celebrated annually from May 27th to June 3rd, and it holds great importance in our community. This week provides an opportunity to reflect on our shared history, acknowledge the contributions of Indigenous cultures, and work towards a more inclusive and harmonious future.
We believe that reconciliation is a shared responsibility and that by actively engaging in these conversations and initiatives, we can contribute to a more equitable and inclusive society.
Together, we can create a future where Indigenous cultures are celebrated, and where all Australians stand in solidarity, acknowledging and respecting the unique contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
God Bless,
Kylie Scott

RE Happenings
We are excited to celebrate the joyous occasion of Pentecost! This special day marks the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples and the birth of the Christian Church. It is a time of great significance in the Christian calendar. In Catholic liturgical celebrations, Pentecost is marked with special Masses, prayers, and the use of red liturgical vestments and decorations, symbolizing the fiery presence of the Holy Spirit. It is a time for Catholics to reflect on the role of the Holy Spirit in their lives, to seek spiritual renewal, and to embrace their mission as witnesses of Christ in the world.

Sacred Heart Athletics Carnival

The weather challenged the staff and Mrs Scott on 26 June for our Annual Athletics Carnival.
We saw an amazing sense of Sportsmanship displayed from our students. The students huddled together, whilst waiting to run their races. A reprieve in the weather enabled us to complete all track events, thankfully.
A wonderful shout out to the P&F in the canteen, who kept everyone fed with hot food. A thank you to all our staff and parent helpers on the day. We will complete the Field events during the remainder of the Term at school, in time for the Northern Regions Athletics Carnival in Dubbo Term 3.

Student Wellbeing
The Challenge of Attendance at School Since COVID
While student disengagement has been a persistent serious challenge for schools, the COVID-19
pandemic has exacerbated this issue. Of the educators surveyed during a recent webinar by The
Student Wellbeing Hub, 83% indicated they have significantly more concerns regarding school
attendance than they did before the pandemic.
Psychologist Andrew Fuller has useful recommendations for schools and parents seeking to
re-engage students with school.
