Term 3, 2023 Weeks 3-4
Principal's Message
What an action-packed 2 weeks filled with unforgettable experiences! Our students were geared up for the Pilliga Pottery excursion for Years 3-4. This exciting excursion promised to ignite their curiosity and expand their knowledge beyond the classroom walls. The thrill continued with the highly anticipated Soccer Gala Day, where our spirited athletes showcased their prowess and dedication on the field, inspiring us all with their teamwork and passion for the game.
In addition to these exhilarating events, we invited parents and their little ones to join us at the heartwarming Little Hearts Playgroup. It's a wonderful opportunity for toddlers and parents alike to connect, learn, and grow together in a nurturing and playful setting. As we dive into these activities, we look forward to embracing the joy of learning, sportsmanship, and community here at Sarced Heart.
God Bless,
Kylie Scott
Religion Happenings

At each stage of a child’s life, we acknowledge important moments: birth, first birthday, first steps and words. As we begin and grow in our journey of faith, we learn about Jesus and what it means to be his follower. Celebrating the sacraments gives us important experiences along the way that helps us grow in our faith.
This Term we will be celebrating students receiving Reconciliation and Confirmation.

Uniform Expectations
Winter Sports Uniform Expectations:
As we embrace the warmer weather at times and engage in our winter sports activities, please take note of our uniform guidelines. For the duration of the winter sports season, students are expected to wear black tracksuits as part of the uniform. We kindly request that tights not be worn as an alternative during this time.
Additionally, students should continue to wear their designated sports shirt, which plays a pivotal role in promoting team spirit and unity. We believe that adhering to these uniform guidelines not only enhances the sense of camaraderie among our athletes, but also ensures a consistent and professional representation of our school during sporting events. Thank you for your cooperation in upholding our school's uniform standards.
Wellbeing
Sacred Heart SCHOOLTV- Resilience
“Resilience is key to addressing mental health issues. We need to allow our kids to experience adversity. There is a tendency to shield our kids because parents have become a bit over-protective.”

Year 1/2 with Mrs James
In English, we have been busy reading imaginative and informative texts about clouds. We have explored books and websites and have then created our own clouds with cotton wool. We have written poems, descriptions, and facts about the different types of clouds. We have even made a cloud in a jar in our science lesson!

In Maths, we have been exploring mathematical stories and discovering the relationship between addition and subtraction. We have had to decide on missing information given in problems and then solve them.

School Play
No doubt, our Sacred Heart parents have heard their child/ren talk about the school play, or at least seen a copy of their script (only Yr 3/4/5/6 have copies). This year the play is called ‘The Black Stump and Roo Awards.’ As the name suggests, the play is based on an awards night focused on the talent of Coolah’s Sacred Heart children. Unfortunately, ‘The Logies’ and ‘The Oscars’ have been cancelled for 2023, yet several celebrities have offered their presence at the awards night if they are permitted to present some awards, or perform a song or dance number.
During Music-Drama-Dance with Mrs Pettet, the students have been choreographing and learning dances, and practicing their lines. A different approach to rehearsals has taken place this year so to take pressure off students remembering all their lines off by heart, and to reduce the amount of time taken away from literacy and numeracy sessions for play rehearsal. This has been done by allowing the students to read their lines from a teleprompter, yet it has been expected that Year 3-6 regularly read over their lines at home also.
Over time it has become obvious who has been reading over their lines at home as they anticipate their lines and only need to glance at the teleprompter every now and then to know when to speak. They are able to look at the character they are speaking to, look out at the audience, plus use some gestures so to engage the audience. Unfortunately some children have had every excuse under the sun as to why they have no time to practice their lines. Some children have been blatantly honest and admitted to not practicing at home at all. Since rehearsals have only been once a week for approximately the last 10 weeks, reading their lines only once a week has not been near enough for them to move from just reading their lines outloud with their eyes glued to the screen, to presenting their lines in a way that is engaging the audience that doesn’t require them to stand like statues looking at the teleprompter. With approximately only 4 weeks to the day and night performances. It is imperative that all students practice their lines regularly so that they just don’t stand on stage staring constantly at the teleprompter. If students focus on who reads before them, they will be better at being prepared for when it is their turn to speak.
COSTUMES
Mrs Pettet has been going through the school’s and her own, costumes. Below are the items that Mrs Pettet is still needing to source. Parents, please note what your child still needs costume wise. If you are unable to provide the school with the listed item/s, please let Mrs Pettet or the office know asap. The play’s announcer and Blues Brothers are to wear black suits with a white shirt and black tie. These are probably the trickest items to source, so if anyone happens to be near a Vinnies or Op shop, please check to see if there are any size 10, 12 or 14/16 black suits or white long sleeved shirts. Mrs Pettet will see to it that you are reimbursed.
