Term 1, 2024 Weeks 8 - 9
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
The children celebrated Holy Week this week and remembering God's love for us. Thank you to all the students who helped out with the Mass on Wednesday and to Fr. Pius for leading our celebration.
The children enjoyed designing, making and parading their hats. Thank you to the many parents, friends and the Preschool for joining us for this event. Thank you also to all the families who supported the Easter Egg raffles this year. There were lots of eggs to share. The children also joined together today for an Easter egg hunt, which was a lovely way to finish off our school week.
Easter is a time of hope, renewal and rebirth. An occasion when families, friends and loved ones come together to both celebrate and reflect on the blessings in our lives. May you all experience over this weekend, the company of family and friends and especially on this Easter Sunday, embrace his unwavering love, learn to forgive like him, and spread joy in our world.
Have a happy and joyous Easter.
Jennifer Baker
Acting Principal

Families with No Internet At Home
To boost education opportunities and narrow the digital divide, the Australian Government is providing up to 30,000 eligible families, with no internet at home, a free National Broadband Network (NBN) service. Originally a 12 month commitment, the initiative has been extended meaning:
- The period in which a family can nominate to receive a free service is up to 31 December 2024.
- The duration of free services will continue until 31 December 2025 for all existing and new families.
The Government has invested $8.8 million to support NBN Co's implementation and delivery of this targeted affordability measure. This includes an additional $4.3 million from the 2023–24 Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) to extend the free services to 31 December 2025.

RESPECT
We show respect to others when we keep our hands and feet to ourselves.
Year 5/6 with Mrs Kitchin
In English 5/6 are doing a 5-week unit investigating how a significant historical event can be depicted across different genres. They have been interacting with a range of texts detailing the Wave Hill Walk-Off led by Vincent Lingiari, analysing the context and viewpoint of each author in crafting their text. Drawing from this understanding, students will develop their own hybrid text focusing on a notable Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander figure.
In Maths we have completed a unit on fractions and probability. We've been learning to build wholes from fractional parts and comparing fractions with similar denominators. Also, we've been using equivalence to add and subtract fractions. Additionally, we've been exploring probability by comparing observed outcomes with their expected results. This week we have begun working on 3D Spatial Structure where we are visualising and creating three-dimensional shapes such as prisms and pyramids, as well as connecting them to their two-dimensional representations.
This week, our Year 5/6 students participated in the Grip Leadership Conference at Dubbo. This event stands out for its exclusive focus on equipping student leaders for their responsibilities within the school. The conference's format, subjects, and material are all tailored to empower students to take immediate action.
Bike Saftey Day with Mr McGuire
Last Friday, Sacred Heart had a visit from Mr Steve McGuire who educated the students on the importance of bike saftey. Mr McGuire set up courses for them and as you can see by the photos they all had the best day riding their bikes and scooters around the school.
Easter Hat Parade
On Tuesday the students got to display their amazing hats they made and decorated at our Easter Hat Parade. They all looked spectacular!
Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, friends and the Coolah Preschool students and staff that joined us on the day.
Big shout out to the families who donated eggs to our P&F raffle.
