Term 2, 2024 Weeks 7&8
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Friends,
At our school, we're incredibly proud of the way our students continually demonstrate care and empathy towards one another. Whether they are helping a friend with a tough problem, sharing a kind word, or offering support, their compassion shines through.
Alongside this, their dedication to their studies is evident as they work diligently in class, preparing for both academic success and the upcoming Athletics Carnival. We’re looking forward to seeing their hard work pay off as they compete against St Michael's Dunedoo. Let’s cheer them on and support their efforts!
Farewell to Mrs. Baker
It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude that we bid farewell to Mrs. Jen Baker. Her dedication and passion have left an indelible mark on our school community. Athletics Carnival
On the 14th of June, Sacred Heart students travelled to Dunedoo for our annual athletics carnival with St Michaels. Despite the challenging weather, our students displayed unwavering sportsmanship and determination, making the event a remarkable success. Throughout the day, we witnessed many great achievements from our athletes, who gave their best in every event. Mid morning, our infants students had a fantastic time participating in various fun tabloid activities, adding to the joy and excitement of the carnival. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the families who volunteered their time and effort on the day. Your support and involvement are greatly appreciated and truly enhance the sense of community within our school. Congratulations to all our students for their outstanding efforts, and a special thank you to St. Michael's for hosting a wonderful event. We look forward to many more memorable athletics carnivals in the years to come.
Information for students who have progressed to the next level will be sent out soon.
Year 5 & 6
Year 5/6 students have been learning about how solids and liquids change state, the properties of natural and processed materials, and the concept of viscosity. They investigate how different temperatures can change the state of liquids and solids, as well as affect their viscosity. Additionally, they explore how various material properties impact their suitability for different products. To apply their learning, we have been testing our theories on chocolate, oil, mineral turpentine, and tomato sauce. We were lucky enough to have some students from Year 1/2 join us for our experiments.
Year 5/6 Excursion to Canberra
In Week 9, Year 5 and 6 students will be joining our friends from All Hallows and St Michael's for their yearly excursion. This year, we will be travelling to Canberra. The excursion will span four days, filled with exciting and educational activities planned to make the most of our time in Canberra. Our students are already very excited and are eagerly looking forward to this adventure.
Neurodiversity
"We need to embrace neurodiversity as a tapestry of brilliance, for within each unique mind lies extraordinary potential waiting to be unleashed. By celebrating our differences we create a world of understanding and acceptance." Dr Michael Carr-Gregg
Neurodiversity in children and adolescents is a concept celebrating the natural variation in how young minds work. It acknowledges that neurological differences, such as ADHD, autism, dyslexia, and giftedness, are not disabilities but unique aspects of human cognition. Embracing neurodiversity fosters acceptance, empathy, and inclusivity in society.
Canberra
Students from our school are undertaking an education tour of the national capital. Students have been given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy. The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $75.00 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
