Term 3 2024 Weeks 3&4
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Friends,
What a Whirlwind Two Weeks!
The past fortnight has been a bustling time for our school community, with plenty of exciting activities and achievements to celebrate. Our students took on the ICAS tests with enthusiasm, demonstrating their academic talents. Meanwhile, our athletes shined at the Northern Regions Athletics, showing true sportsmanship and dedication.
The Book Parade and Grandparents Day were a hit, with a wonderful turnout that brought smiles to everyone’s faces, including the delightful participation of Coolah Preschool staff, students, parents, and friends. We also came together for a good cause on Jeans for Genes Day, and our Years 1-6 students had an absolute ball (pun intended!) at the Soccer Gala Day.
In addition, we were honoured to witness a beautiful celebration of Bishop Manning’s life, reflecting on his impact and legacy. Staff Professional Development saw Mrs. Vanessa Scifleet-Pettet leading the charge, while Mrs. Scott engaged in productive Centacare and Primary Consultant meetings with Aaron Jackson and Vince Connor.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support and participation in making these events so special!
God Bless
Kylie Scott
1/2 Classroom with Mrs Palmer and Mrs James
Following on from studying the Olympic Games in Paris, we have been looking at some French artists in our Visual Arts lessons. In week 4 students learned about Henri Matisse who's most famous artworks used bright colours, and predominantly shapes cut out from paper and pasted onto a background. He focussed on using bright colours and simple shapes. Year 1/2 had a range of coloured paper and the freedom to choose the shapes to include in their artworks. Some students focused on designing a particular scene whilst others arranged their shapes in a more abstract way.
Grandparents Day & Book Parade
Sacred Heart was buzzing with excitement recently as we celebrated Grandparents Day and our annual Book Parade. The day kicked off with grandparents and special family members visiting classrooms, discovering new learning methods, and sharing in the joy of their grandchildren's education.
The highlight was our vibrant Book Parade, where students dazzled in costumes as beloved characters from their favourite books The Man from Snowy River, Harry Potter, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Danny the Champion of the World, Lucky and her Treasure, Anna Frith and our staff brought to life Possum Magic. Our preschoolers and their families added to the fun, making the event even more special.
Under the sunny skies, the parade and festivities created a heartwarming atmosphere, showcasing the magic of reading and the importance of family. It was a day full of smiles, laughter, and cherished memories for all.
St Laurence's Soccer Gala Day
Our students recently attended the Soccer Gala Day in Dubbo, organised by St Laurence’s and joined by All Hallows. It was a fantastic day where our students not only showcased the skills they've honed during practice at school, but also demonstrated outstanding sportsmanship, fun, and enjoyment. Their teamwork and enthusiasm were on full display, making us incredibly proud of their efforts and the spirit they brought to the event.

Religious Happenings
The Feast Day of The Assumption, 15 August.
The Feast Day of The Assumption was celebrated at our Sacred Heart Church with a beautiful and respectful attendance from our students and parishioners. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and joy, enhanced by the wonderful singing that resonated throughout the service. As Catholics, this day holds deep significance as we honour the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into Heaven, body and soul. It serves as a reminder of our faith and the hope of eternal life, inspiring us to live with devotion and love, just as Mary did. The celebration brought our community closer, strengthening our shared beliefs and commitment to living out our faith in everyday life.
