Term 4 2024 Weeks 7&8
Principal's Message
Week 7 & 8 Wrap-Up – Preparing for the End of Term!
What a wonderful fortnight it has been at Sacred Heart, as we prepare for the end of Term 4 and an exciting finish to the school year! Teachers and students have been hard at work finalising assessments, wrapping up projects, and rehearsing for our much-anticipated Octagon singing assembly.
This week, we celebrated the start of the Advent season, a special time to reflect, prepare, and embrace the joy and hope of Christmas.
Looking back we were thrilled to honour our Year 6 students at their Graduation Ceremony, celebrate achievements as students received certificates at the ceremony, and introduced our new School Captain, Archie and Sports Captain Campbell for 2025.
A wonderful evening spent with our Year 6 students and parents at the Year 6 Graduation Dinner, a wonderful evening enjoyed by all. We wish Libby, Ava-Leigh and Darcy all the best in their journey into Secondary schooling. We will certainly miss you all.
A heartfelt thank you to all our students for their hard work and enthusiasm as we enter this busy and exciting time. Your dedication and positivity make Sacred Heart a truly special place. Stay tuned for more details about the wonderful events to come!
God Bless,
Kylie Scott
Religious Happenings-The Season of Advent
Advent is a season when we are being encouraged to do the things we normally do, but do them with purpose, with determination, and with more joy and hope. Let’s put it every simply: it’s time to get up. It’s time to wake up. It’s time to clean up. It’s time to grow up. It’s time to serve.
But it is also time to read, to reflect, to pray, and to know that the One who came at the first Advent is the one who is forever inviting us: “Come, follow me.”
December can pass in a haze of busyness. There is so much to do to prepare for Christmas that, if we are not careful, we can arrive at 25 December with many jobs done only to discover that we are not ready for the birth of Jesus. The daily reflections we offer aren’t trying to give you any more things to do, but to encourage you to take time to be ready for Christmas.
As you prepare for Christmas, we hope that these readings, reflections and prayers will help you to go deeper and inspire you to make room for the manger.
So, get ready. Love life, live Advent!

Year 1 & 2
As the year draws to a close, Year 1/2 have still been working very hard in Mathematics. This week we have been exploring chance and data, and recording data in different ways. On Monday students had to roll a dice 30 times, tally their results and present this in a column graph, and on Tuesday they had to sort a pack of dominoes out based on whether they were less than a decided total (a number between 4-9 e.g 7), the total of 7, or more than the total of 7, and then predict the likelihood of drawing out a domino from each category. It has been wonderful to see students being so 'hands on' with their learning and working together in pairs or small groups to explore their learning.
Over the next two weeks, students will have some beautiful Christmas craft decorations and gifts to bring home. They have all thoroughly enjoyed themselves in creating their decorations and gifts.

Thank you once again for your generosity and support — we couldn’t have done it without you!
SPECIAL REPORT: Starting Year 7
When a child starts high school, they suddenly become one of the youngest and newest kids at school all over again - a small fish in a big pond! The transition between Year 6 and Year 7 is one of the biggest jumps in a child's life and is a very important milestone. This can easily become a daunting time for students and parents alike.
Attendance
Did you know?
- If a child misses 7 days each term from Kindergarten to year 6, they will have missed a whole year of schooling by the time they reach High School.
Regular attendance at school is very important
- Students missing the basic skills in the early years of school, can have educational delays later in life.
- Attending school every day makes learning easier.
- Attending school every day helps build and maintain friendships.
- Research shows that children who begin school with good attendance are more likely to continue that pattern and more likely to succeed in later life.
