Term 4 2024 Weeks 9&10
Principal's Message
As we approach the final days of Term 4, we reflect on what has been a truly wonderful year of learning and growth at Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School. This year has brought new students, fresh opportunities, and countless moments of joy and achievement.
We are incredibly grateful for our supportive staff, dedicated teachers, engaged parents, and—most importantly—our amazing students. The hard work and dedication our students have shown in their learning have been inspiring. From adventurous excursions to impressive progress in the classroom and active participation in sporting events, our students have demonstrated their resilience, care, and determination.
We are so proud of what has been achieved together in 2024 and thank our school community for their unwavering commitment to making Sacred Heart a nurturing and dynamic environment.
As we prepare to close the year, we eagerly look forward to the opportunities and adventures that 2025 will bring. Wishing everyone a safe, joyful, and restful holiday season!
Thank you to everyone who continues to support our school community. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic end to the term.
God Bless,
Kylie Scott
Religious Happenings- Advent
As we journey through the season of Advent, we are reminded of the hope, peace, joy, and love that Christ brings into our lives. Each week of Advent encourages us to focus on these themes:
- Week 1: Hope – “The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.” (Isaiah 9:2)
- Week 2: Peace – “Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace among those whom he favors!” (Luke 2:14)
- Week 3: Joy – “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice.” (Philippians 4:4)
- Week 4: Love – “For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son.” (John 3:16)
We encourage our families to reflect on these virtues as we prepare our hearts for the coming of Christ at Christmas.

Time with Mrs V Pettet
During Week 8, Miss Mace and Mrs Pettet had the pleasure of working with Kindergarten. Amongst the wonderful work the students completed to show Mrs Hallett, they showcased their dancing talent during movement breaks and drew the most incredible pictures of llamas….or, as some claim, alpacas! Kindergarten has also been lucky to have had a special friend visit some mornings. Thanks, Mrs Obbard, for the great photographs of the llamas!
Featured also are some photographs of other artwork that Kindergarten has completed for Mrs Pettet in recent weeks.
In Geography this term with Mrs Pettet, Year 1-2 have been working on a unit called’ Features of Places.’ The students have investigated the natural and human features of places in the Coolah region. They’ve looked at reasons why places change, particularly in regards to changes in Coolah over the years. They’ve studied how people describe the weather and seasons of places, and made comparisons between the weather experienced in Coolah, Darwin and Perth throughout the year. The class has also explored activities occurring in places and how the spaces within places can be used for different purposes.
A very special thanks goes to Karen Bird and Karen Holland who visited Year 1/2 to share with us how they help care for Coolah. Each student asked at least one question, and each question was met with an informative reply. The students’ eyes were really opened to the wonderful and important role that these ladies play in caring for areas within our town. From mowing the oval, parks and the cemetery; to marking lines on the oval, to whipper snipping, fertilising, painting, maintenance on constructed features in the town, pruning gardens and trees, to the upkeep of our cemetery, and to keeping our main street clean and tidy,,,,, these ladies undoubtedly work tirelessly throughout the year. We thank you both for helping to make Coolah a great place to live in or pass through.

Sacred Heart Working Bee – A Big Thank You!
A huge thank you to all the families who came out to our Working Bee at Sacred Heart! 🐝✨
Your incredible effort and teamwork have truly made a difference. Thanks to your hard work, we’ve managed to transform our school grounds and create a more vibrant, safe, and welcoming space for our students.
Here’s what we accomplished together:
- Playground Refurbishment: The play area has been refreshed and is now ready for our students to enjoy!
- Sleepers Installed: New edging around the sandpit, making everything look neat and tidy.
- Earthworks & Labouring: Many hands helped with groundwork, improving the overall beauty and functionality of our school grounds.
We appreciate everyone who pitched in, whether for an hour or the whole day. Your time, energy, and positive spirit made the event a success.
With your support, Sacred Heart is shining brighter than ever, and we are grateful to have such a wonderful, engaged community.
Thank you once again for your generosity and support — we couldn’t have done it without you!
Confidence & Motivation
Building confidence and motivation in young people is essential for their development and overall wellbeing. Supporting these traits means encouraging your child to set realistic goals, celebrate their achievements, and learn from setbacks. Confidence allows young people to believe in their abilities, face challenges with resilience, and feel empowered in their decisions.
