Term 1 2025 Weeks 1&2
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
It is both an honour and a pleasure to welcome you to the 2025 school year at Sacred Heart! I am immensely proud to serve as the Principal of this remarkable learning community, and I am enthusiastic about embracing the Sacred Heart motto: Faith, Love, and Knowledge, alongside our students, staff, and families.
During my initial weeks as Principal, I have taken the opportunity to visit each classroom, greet families and children at the front gate, experience the calm and settled classes in which children are engaged in their learning, chat with students on the playground, participate in Year 3, 4, 5, and 6 sports, celebrate the Angelus with the entire school after lunch, and observe the children joyfully playing on our beautiful playground while on duty. Additionally, I have had productive collaborative staff meetings and professional development sessions with our dedicated team. These have all contributed to a fantastic start to the year.
My main focus for Term 1 is to foster connections and build relationships with the children, staff, and families of Sacred Heart, as I believe this is the most critical aspect of my role.
Parents are their child’s first and most significant teachers, playing an essential role in their education. We wholeheartedly welcome all parents to take an active role in their children's learning and to participate in our school community. I encourage you to familiarise yourself with the staff, particularly your child’s teachers, and to offer your support wherever possible, so we can collaborate effectively for the benefit of our students. I am keen to work with our parent community to support their children's educational journey, as building strong parent-teacher relationships is vital for the positive well-being and learning growth of our students.
I am excited about the possibilities that lie ahead for our students and our school community. Let us work together to make this school year a memorable and enriching experience for everyone.
May our school year be filled with Faith, Love, and Knowledge.
God Bless.
Kind regards,
Sarah-Jane Canham

Exciting News!
We are thrilled to welcome Ms Little as our new Year 1/2 teacher!
Originally from Mendooran, Ms Little has called Sydney home for the past 25 years, bringing with her a wealth of experience across all stages and subjects. But that’s not all—she’s also a music specialist and a professional singer-songwriter!
We feel incredibly lucky to have such a talented and passionate educator join our team. Welcome, Ms Little!
Year 5/6 News
Welcome Back to School – 2025!
We are thrilled to welcome our Year 5/6 students back for another exciting year of learning! They have returned all grown up, displaying perfect manners and a fantastic attitude toward their studies.
We have hit the ground running with our writing focus on The Wild Robot, an engaging novel that will guide our literacy lessons for the first five weeks. In Mathematics, we are starting with SUFS (Setting Up for Success), a program designed to create the best possible classroom environment for mathematical thinking and learning. Through a range of engaging tasks, SUFS helps establish a positive and supportive math culture where students can thrive.
We look forward to a fantastic term ahead, filled with growth, discovery, and success!
