Term 3 2025 - Week 4
Principal's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
It’s hard to believe how quickly the term is flying by. Unfortunately, illness has been affecting many in our school community recently. We sincerely thank all families for keeping unwell children at home - this greatly supports the wellbeing of everyone. We continue to promote regular hand washing and use of sanitiser at school to help minimise the spread of germs.
We were pleased to welcome our CEDB School Consultant, Mr Steve Muller, to our school on Tuesday, 12th August. It was a pleasure to take him on a tour and showcase the outstanding teaching and learning taking place across our classrooms. Our students and staff truly impressed with their engagement and enthusiasm.
A special commendation goes to the students participating in the ICAS assessments. Your perseverance and effort are to be applauded - we are very proud of you for embracing the challenge!
Looking ahead, we have several exciting events on the horizon:
- The Feast of the Assumption - Friday, 15th August. We will attend Mass at 10am. You are very welcome to join us for this special Feast Day Mass. I have attached some information about The Feast of the Assumption.
Book Parade and Grandparents’ Day will take place next Tuesday, 19th August at 1:10pm. We look forward to welcoming families to celebrate a love of reading and honour the special role grandparents play in our students’ lives.
Stage 2 Camp is scheduled for Week 6, 28th - 29th August at Lake Keepit Sport and Recreation Centre. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to enjoy outdoor activities, build independence, and create lasting memories with their peers.
Later this term, we will be holding Parent/Teacher Meetings. We encourage all parents to stay in regular contact with their child’s teacher. Open communication fosters a strong home-school partnership and plays a key role in supporting student learning and wellbeing. Please don’t hesitate to arrange a meeting at a mutually convenient time - we are always happy to connect with you.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Enjoy the rest of the week and have a safe, relaxing weekend.
Warm regards,
Sarah-Jane Canham

SUPPORT AND RFF WITH VANESSA PETTET
Term 3 sees me continue within my support role and providing relief from face-to-face teaching (RFF) for the teachers of Yr 3/4 and Yr 5/6. Alongside Mrs James and Mrs Palmer, I continue to help deliver Religion lessons to Yr 3/4. Presently, Yr 3/4 are working with a unit titled 'Called To Be Saints.' There is a good chance that each of them could tell you one or more facts about Saint John Paul ll, Saint John Bosco, Saint Mary MacKillop, Saint Joan of Arc, Saint Patrick or Saint Mother Teresa that you didn't know.
For Yr 5/6 Art, the students have started to investigate ways in which artists may represent the environment, using observation and different means of recording as a basis for an expressive interpretation. The students will look at how artists have represented their environment in expressive ways, and try out a range of different techniques that artists have utilised. From their own environment and experiences, the students will document ideas in research drawings and then develop concepts into paintings, weavings and sculptures. They will research a culture from another country and make a mask to represent that culture.
In Yr 5/6 Geography, the students have commenced a unit called ‘Geographical Planning For Sustainable Futures.’ The students have studied the cultural obligations to Country in Aboriginal cultures. Future lessons will target: Aboriginal cultural works and oral traditions in landscape mapping; Aboriginal peoples’ management of environments and world heritage areas; navigating the road maps of Australia; and studying satellite images and freight maps.
On the playground this week, some of the school's inside equipment was moved outdoors.......just for a change. Many of the students took the opportunity to put ‘them’ to good use. The use of such equipment can serve not only the purpose of having fun, but also help improve focus and self-regulation for some individuals.
