Term 4 Weeks 5/6
Principal's Message
Week 4 saw the Catholic Diocese gather for Term 4 Principal’s meeting in Bathurst. The topics discussed in detail were: Child Safe Standards, School Planning, Principal Wellbeing, Learning, Teaching and Wellbeing, NAPLAN, Marketing, Annual Improvement Plans for schools and Bishop Michael McKenna’s address to the Principal’s.
The 2 days enabled us to collaborate and plan with each other, and the Leadership Team at the Catholic Education Office. Attending Mass together as a whole congregation was both reflective and supportive, where we farewelled retiring Principals, some after 40 years in their roles. I feel privileged to be part of a truly beautiful cohort of professionals.
With the devastating floods that have occured, please keep our cohorts in your prayers and thoughts.
Lord God,
We ask for your mercy
on those affected by the floods.
We pray for those who have died,
and ask that you send your Spirit to console their loved ones.
Pierce our hearts with compassion for those
who have lost their homes, businesses or animals.
May they have the courage and energy
to face the long road ahead:
the clean-up, the rebuilding and the difficult decisions.
Keep our hearts and minds on the needs of those impacted,
both now and in the months ahead.
We make this prayer through Jesus Christ.
Amen.
God Bless
Kylie Scott

Rememberance Day

SPB4L
We are respectful and responsible when we are "good sports".

Zoo Visit
We travelled to Taronga Western Plains Zoo with a bus load of very excited students. What a wonderful day the students had seeing the animals and learning about their environment and natural habitat. We also attended an Animal Encounter workshop where students were given the opportunity to get up close to a range of native Australian animals: learn about their needs and how they adapt for survival.

Hands On Ukes
Last week Tom Harding came to the school and gave a workshop on playing the ukulele. The students learnt some ukuele facts and many styles of music including disco, funk, pop and jazz.
Tom showed the students ways of playing their ukuele to gain a better understanding of rhythm, tempo, pitch, tone and harmony. The overall learning experience was a whole lot of fun for our students.

Healthy Lunch Box
Term 4 Week 6 coming to the end of the year, the little things are important. For little brains to operate at their optimum we need to feed them healthy food. Sugary items (chocolates, lollies etc) are not recommended. Fruit, vegetables and proteins are ideal to keep their brains operating at full capacity all day. Thank you for supporting us in this.

Covid Update
COVID19 UPDATE - 15 NOVEMBER 2022
NSW Health recently advised that we are already starting to see a rise in COVID-19 transmissions within the community, with a peak of cases expected in early December.
The COVID-smart measures continue to be in place and are vital in allowing us to keep our schools operational while prioritising student and staff wellbeing.
These measures include:
- staying home if unwell and/or showing any symptoms
- mask-wearing strongly encouraged, particularly when indoors and/or when physical distancing is not possible, and on public transport
- continued mandatory mask-wearing for anyone working with students at greater risk of serious illness whether they be in an specialist centres, support unit or mainstream classroom
- using rapid antigen tests (RATs) when showing symptoms or exposed to COVID-19
- encouraging all students, staff and families to keep up-to-date with their vaccinations, including COVID-19 booster shots if eligible
- NSW Health are also encouraging everyone in the community to continue to register positive RATs with Service NSW to ensure they receive timely support and advice, including access to antivirals for those eligible.
- Schools are encouraged to continue to reinforce the importance of the COVID-smart measures to students, parents, carers and staff.
Rapid antigen tests (RATs)
Please continue to encourage students, families and staff to test whenever they are showing symptoms or if they have been exposed to COVID-19.
With the expected spike in COVID-19 cases in the community early next month, it is recommended distributing RATs to your students and staff to encourage their use, particularly before large end-of-year events and gatherings. Schools can decide whether they would like to distribute the remaining stock they have at school to students and staff. In addition, schools are advised to maintain an appropriate stock of RAT kits on site to support symptomatic testing in the event of an outbreak. This means: (Please contact Ronda Smith at CEDB if you require stock)
- stock for at least 2 RATs per student and staff member in schools
- stock for at least 4 RATs per student and staff member in specialist centres and support units.
Risk assessment reminder before large events, gatherings and excursions
Please continue to identify COVID-19 exposure as part of the risk assessment process for school activities, particularly for large events, gatherings and excursions including camps. When assessing COVID risk you should:
- review risk assessments in the lead up to the activity and consider any changes in risk or community or school restrictions
- consider any individual health care plans or needs for students and staff participating
- review the specific guidance on events, gatherings and overnight and residential settings.
Latest advice from NSW Health
All staff should regularly check the NSW Government COVID-19 news and updates.
